I’m writing this from my bathtub while drinking soda water from a wine glass – I don’t drink soda water I just need to substitute my usual glass of wine for something that my mind thinks is better than water. Sad I know but it works (for me)!s is better than water. Sad I know but it works (for me)!
The festive season creates bad habits for many of us……

For me it was alcohol I enjoy a glass of wine here and there, it doesn’t have to be a special occasion but that week between Christmas and New Years I’m not sure we had 1 night without a glass… I was on holidays, James was home from work, life was good – we were celebrating.
However what that has done is gotten me into the habit once the sun starts going down it’s time for a nice relaxing glass of wine.
So to help break the habit I’m drinking soda water from my wine glass it’s not that enjoyable which will help me no longer desire it!

So I thought we could talk more about substitution. If you are the type to go cold turkey perfect – keep at it.

What can we substitute our bad habits for?
..
Dessert – If you are in the habit of eating dessert and just can’t go without try a healthier option. Natural yoghurt with berries is a good start.
..
Breakfast – If you’re now loving bacon and egg rolls or eggs Benedict try eggs without the bacon or roll maybe in a wrap with a little avocado or make breakfast muffins they’re easy, convenient and delicious!

Snacks – are you a constant snacker? Chips, biscuits, cheese yum right but not so good for the healthier life you want to live… Try nuts, fruit, rice crackers or vita wheat’s with avocado and tomato. If you really start missing cheese add a little to your dinner salad.

Dinner – love loads of carbs in your dinner? (I do!) instead of a potato filler try couscous, quinoa or cauliflower rice. When you load your plate up start with the salad or veggies put more than usual on then add in the rest and when you eat start with the salad/veggies.
..
These are just a few substitution options to help get you through if you are like me and know that cold turkey generally end in failure don’t set yourself up for that type of misery.

Life is good and being healthy can still be enjoyable!
