Hands up who loves Christmas!!
There are two very common topics in my sessions at the moment:
space
1. Christmas Parties/Festivities
2. Concern about losing everything that has been achieved this year (health and fitness wise)
space
I thought I would write a little something on making healthy choices while still having fun and making the most of the festive season …
First up Christmas parties:

I have written a blog on these before which you can see here:

Long story short – don’t over indulge…
space
To avoid over indulging eat a little something that’s protein rich and healthy before you leave the house, this will ensure if drinking is on the agenda something good is in your stomach and if lots of ‘bad’ food is on the agenda you generally won’t be able to fit in quite so much …
space
I always say that while yes being fit and healthy is important you still need to live life and enjoy food!
When it comes to drinking alcohol please please please keep hydrated.
space
One glass of water for every alcoholic beverage is not going to ruin your fun and even better it’ll help with the way you feel the next day. It also can help keep you full so you don’t eat so much Christmas cake 😉
space
The concern about losing some of the health and fitness you’ve gained this year is a bit harder to balance…
space
The best advice I can give you is to keep active.
space
Now by keeping active I don’t mean high intensity gym sessions, for most people gym is the last thing you want to do.
Keep active in other ways:
pace
Go for a family walk to the park after lunch and play with the kids.
space
When you go to Christmas parties/events don’t sit down, instead walk around and chat, set yourself a goal to have a photo with everyone at the party that way you know you’ve spoken to everyone.

Play a game of backyard cricket, have a hoolahoop contest or play limbo. It’s all fun, gets everyone together (and off their phones!) and keeps you moving so you can burn off whatever it is you are consuming!

If you’ve gone away somewhere for the holidays walk around and explore – you see so much more on foot!
