The Online 8 week Winter Survivor Program

My mission over the 8 week winter survivor program is to give you the tools and knowledge you need to live a healthier life.

I realise living a healthy life means different things to different people so below is some generic information that everyone can use to start making changes, if you want information directed personally for you, your goals and your lifestyle you will need to join the program and fill in some details so I can personalise the program and information shared.

A couple of quick points:

  1. The only way you are going to improve your strength/health/physique/fitness levels/stress levels whatever it is you feel needs improving is by making change.
    Yes change is hard, change can be scary, change can be uncomfortable but if you don’t make the necessary changes and put in the required effort nothing will happen!

  2. This is not an 8 week shred challenge, I do not share any amazing ‘secret’ to losing mass amounts of weight in a short period of time because well besides surgery there is no secret quick cure so if that is what you are after do not join this program.

  3. This program is about giving you knowledge to live a healthy lifestyle, whether you want to lose weight, get stronger (strong doesn’t have to mean big!), bulk up (yes there is a difference to getting strong and getting bigger) or simply understand more about the food you are eating.

  4. The first step to getting a better understanding about nutrition regardless of if you are joining the program or not is to download an app to track your food and exercise. I like my fitness pal, it’s easy and free.
    What you need to do for at least 1 week (7 full days minimum!) is track everything you consume – food, drinks, absolutely everything!
    It doesn’t matter if you think it’s good for you or not record it. 
    If you join the program I will give you feedback on your eating so it is very very important that you put absolutely everything in and you don’t lie. There will be no punishment for eating something rubbish, there will be no sharing of your personal food diary with the public, there will be no shaming of anyone for anything that you consume!.
    The reason I need you to fill this in for a typical week is because I need to know your current eating habits, if I don’t know your current habits I can’t help you.

  5. The second step is to think about what physical activity you are currently doing, how active you are at work and what you realistically have time for outside of your usual commitments.
    There are plenty of free generic workout programs you can follow online if you utilise google, included in my 8 week program you will receive workouts designed for you, for your time constraints, for the equipment you have access to (or lack of), for your current abilities, experience and based on what you are wanting to achieve.

  6. Once you are ready to start the first thing to do is measurements and basic fitness testing.  Included in my 8 week program is detailed fitness testing used to track your progress both physically with measurements and through exercises to check your fitness and strength levels.
